Panama to increase its wind power production in 2018

These new projects, which will be located in the province of
Coclé, will inject an additional 63% of wind energy to existing capacity, which
reaches 270 MW during the dry season of the year.
By 2018 Panama will increase its wind energy production with
the incorporation of three new projects, which will contribute approximately
170 MW to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
These new projects, which will be located in the province of

reaches 270 MW during the dry season of the year, said in a press release the
Public Services Authority (Asep).
According to statistics from the National Center of
Consumption (CND), during the dry season of 2017, wind power in Panama reached
high levels of production, which managed to supply the energy market by 14%.
As planned, the first of these three projects is expected to
start operations during the first quarter of 2018, with a capacity of 100 MW of
renewable energy.
The other two projects are scheduled for December of the
same year, which will help to cover part of the demand during the dry season of
2019.
The Penonomé wind farm, located 110 kilometers west of the
capital, is considered the largest in Central America and the Caribbean.
